JAKARTA - Telegram released its first update in 2026 by introducing an artificial intelligence (AI) based summary feature or AI Summaries for channel uploads and Instant View pages.
Through the AI Summaries feature, users can now see an automatic summary of long uploads on the channel to make it easier to follow the latest news. In addition, the Instant View page will also display an AI summary at the top of the article.
The AI summary is powered by an open-source model that runs on a decentralized network called Cocoon. Where, each user request will be securely encrypted to protect personal data.
"Our AI model runs on the decentralized network Cocoon, which is designed to maximize the protection of user privacy and data security," Telegram wrote in its official announcement.
Telegram is also opening up the opportunity to integrate Cocoon into other AI applications, and has provided technical documentation for developers.
In addition to the AI feature, Telegram for iOS now fully supports the Liquid Glass design, with transparent elements and light refraction effects throughout the application interface.
Users can set these visual effects through the Settings > Power Saving menu to save power and improve device performance.
Throughout 2025, Telegram launched more than 75 new features through 13 major updates, with an average of 26 days between updates.
With this early 2026 update, Telegram confirms its focus on the development of privacy-oriented AI, as well as the improvement of the visual experience for iOS users.
