JAKARTA - YouTube announced an update to its search feature by introducing a number of new filters and simplifying the menu, in an effort to improve the user experience in finding relevant content.
This update was made in response to user feedback who wanted a more effective and intuitive search system.
Through this update, YouTube is launching a filter feature for Shorts in the Type menu, which allows users to choose whether search results display Shorts or long-form videos (VOD), so that searches can be customized based on content format.
YouTube also updated the "View count" option to "Popularity". With this update, users can more easily find popular and relevant videos with search keywords.
Furthermore, YouTube changed the name of the "Sort By" menu to "Prioritize", which is designed to provide maximum usability and is in line with user expectations in determining search results priorities.
Finally, YouTube has also simplified the filter menu to make it more intuitive and improve the overall search experience, by removing the "Upload Date - Last Hour" and "Sort by Rating" filters.
"However, you can still find the latest search results in one of our 'Upload Date' filters, and explore popular videos that have been watched a lot using the new 'Popularity' filter option," said the Google video platform.
