JAKARTA - The European Commission stated that Grok's latest ability, which can change images on the X platform, is illegal. The reason is that the xAI chatbot can strip naked images of women or minors.
The EU agency, which advocates for digital security, admitted that it was 'very aware' that X was now experimenting with a bolder mode. However, the feature called 'spicy mode' is said to be an abuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities so that the European Commission will take action in the future.
"This is not spicy, it is illegal. It is horrible. It is disgusting. It has no place in Europe," said European Commission spokesman Thomas Regnier, quoted by Euronews on Tuesday, January 6. "I can assure you that the Commission is also investigating this matter very seriously."
This statement was issued after many countries criticized Grok's latest capabilities. The AI model can now be used to remove certain objects from within the image, but its ability is actually misused by X users.
Grok has been proven to produce pornographic content through 'spicy mode' with just a simple prompt. If a user asks Grok to remove clothing from a person's picture, Grok will do it. This ability is worrying many countries, including France and Malaysia.
The security of X has responded to the criticism. Through their official account, they stated that the team had deleted the vulgar content produced by Grok and blocked the accounts involved. They are committed to working with law enforcement to address child sexual abuse material.
Even though it has been deleted, a number of accounts are still trying to produce vulgar images with Grok's ability. The AI chatbot also looks inconsistent. Sometimes Grok will refuse by producing a more closed image, but sometimes Grok still produces vulgar images.
