JAKARTA - Samsung announced plans to expand Gemini to more of its mobile phones. The South Korean company will double the number of devices that adopt Gemini to strengthen its position in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology market.

Throughout 2025, Samsung managed to embed AI technology developed by Google into 400 million of its products. This year, Samsung is determined to expand Gemini to 800 million units of its products, but its coverage is not only mobile phones. The company is now also targeting expansion to tablets.

This expansion is carried out to seize the dominance of the smartphone market, which is currently dominated by Apple. In addition, Samsung is also trying to outperform other electronic product markets such as smart TVs and other smart home appliances that rely on AI.

"We will apply AI to all products, all functions, and all services as quickly as possible," Samsung Electronics CEO TM Roh told Reuters, quoted on Monday, January 5.

Roh estimates that the implementation of AI technology will be faster and more widespread in the next year. This is also supported by Samsung's internal research which shows that brand awareness of Galaxy AI has jumped quite significantly. The percentage reached 80 percent last year.

Currently, many users are taking advantage of advanced search features, intelligent image editing, and other productivity tools. All of these features are supported by AI. Samsung believes that integrating AI-based features into more of its devices can help the company outperform competitors.

Although Samsung is currently focusing on Gemini, Google's chatbot is not the only AI that Samsung uses. The company is trying to redevelop its voice assistant, Bixby, with Perplexity AI. This improvement can already be seen in the latest beta firmware version.
