JAKARTA - The 2025 Cyber Security Review Report for the retail and e-commerce sector by Kaspersky reveals that online shopping activities are increasingly overshadowed by various digital threats.

Throughout 2025, cyberattacks in the retail and e-commerce sectors have increased significantly. Ransomware detection jumped more than 150 percent compared to the previous two years, while millions of phishing attempts target online shoppers, payment systems, and delivery services.

To minimize the risk of cybercrime, security experts recommend a number of practical steps for consumers:

First, users are advised to be more careful when sharing information, including avoiding uploading sensitive photos or details when interacting with applications, chatbots, and online shopping platforms.

Second, always verify the sender and the link. Large discounts or order notifications from unknown sources should be suspicious. Users should manually type the address of the store's website in the browser, rather than clicking on links received via messages or emails.

Third, research online stores before making a transaction. When shopping at an unknown store, be sure to check customer reviews, the clarity of the site address, and the appearance of a professional and neat page.

Fourth, monitor card and account transactions regularly. If there are irregularities, users are advised to immediately block the card and contact the bank.

Finally, using cybersecurity software, regular device scanning, and secure password management is considered important to prevent malware and data theft. Users are also advised not to store passwords or sensitive data in the photo gallery or mobile notes.
