Discord Launches Game Item Purchase Feature, Directly In The Application

JAKARTA Discord introduced a new feature that supports purchasing digital game items directly on the platform. This feature is believed to increase game developers' income.

This feature also supports efficiency so users don't have to leave the platform when they want to transact. Not only can you buy game items directly within the Discord, but the platform also allows users to create wishlists.

With this feature, users can enter game items into the wanted list. Users can also now send items from within the game as gifts via direct message (DM) Discord.

The addition of this feature presents a new monetization opportunity for Discord and game developers. By facilitating the sale of digital products directly on Discord, this platform helps developers reach a wider audience.

The initial launch of these trading features was carried out through an exclusive partnership with popular video games, namely Marvel Rivals. The game now has a special store page on its official Discord server.

Marvel Rivals was chosen as its launch partner due to its large community base on Discord with more than 4 million members. Players can now browse and purchase items in games such as bundles, costumes, emotes, and direct emojis from gaming servers.

Currently, the in-app purchase feature is only available for desktop version of Discord in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Oceania. Discord states that it is considering expanding its features to other regions in the future.
