JAKARTA Google says that they are testing a new feature. This feature is a merger of two existing Artificial Intelligence (AI) features, namely AI Overview and AI Mode.

This trial was conducted for a simple purpose, namely removing the boundary between fast search results and deep exploration with AI. Through this feature, users who receive AI Overview results on Google Search can immediately dig up the information.

This information digitation relies on AI Mode. Users can ask further questions in the same conversation interface as AI Overview. This is a fairly efficient feature because previously AI Mode was only accessible on separate tabs.

Testing of this feature is based on an information search process that often triggers the desire to learn more. According to Google, one may start with a simple search, but wants to dig deeper into the topic.

With this latest trial, Google stated that users can explore AI Mode smoothly, directly from the AI Overview results page. Although this trial was launched globally, eligible users can only access its features on mobile devices.

Google Product VP Robby Stein said in an upload on X, formerly known as Twitter, that this new feature supports efficiency. Users can immediately ask questions without having to think about a place or how to apply for them.

"This brings us closer to our vision for the Search. Just ask whatever's on your mind no matter how long or complicated it is and find what you need," Stein said, quoted on Wednesday, December 3.
