"Along with the submission of SKLO from the Ministry of Communication and Information today, PT Telkomsel will be the first 5G Network Telecommunication Operator in Indonesia," Johnny said in a press conference, Monday, May 24.

"The issuance of SKLO signifies the successful preparation of PT Telkomsel to deploy the 5G network, which will be specifically carried out on the frequency band of 2,300 MHz or 2.3 GHz, with a bandwidth of 30 MHz in the range of 2,300 MHz to 2,330 MHz," johnny said.

The ULO stage and sklo issuance are carried out based on the mandate of Article 4 of The Minister of Communication and Information Regulation No. 5 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Telecommunications, which is a derivative regulation of Law No. 11 of 2020 on Work Copyright and Government Regulation No. 46 of 2021 concerning Post, Telecommunications, and Broadcasting (Postelsiar).

"Therefore, based on these regulations, the ULO stage and SKLO ownership are mandatory for every Telecommunication Operator who wants to expand the network due to technological changes that occur," explained Johnny.

Johnny stated, 5G technology is included in the new technology changes based on the Specification of International Mobile Telecommunication-2020 (IMT-2020) through the determination by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

For information, telkomsel's 5G service will be launched simultaneously on May 27, 2021 and can be accessed in a limited and gradual manner in six residential locations in Jabodetabek, as well as in other cities such as Solo, Medan, Balikpapan, Denpasar, Batam, Surabaya, Makassar, and Bandung.

Furthermore, Johnny hopes that the implementation of 5G technology in Indonesia can further realize more equitable telecommunication access, bridge the digital divide, improve people's ability and literacy to use technology more adaptively.
