JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has held an audience with representatives of associations and online game industry players, after a government statement emerged regarding plans to restrict online games for children.
The meeting was attended by more than 20 global and local publishers, including AGI, Tencent, Garena, Agate, Megaxus, Nintendo, and PlayStation, which are intended to strengthen digital space surveillance collaborations, particularly related to child protection and content moderation.
"The issue of digital space, including online games, has become the attention of the government and the public in recent times. Therefore, we need to move quickly and measurably, but continue to open space for dialogue with industry so that our digital ecosystem is safe without hindering innovation," said Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, quoted Friday, November 14.
During the meeting, online game publishers expressed their commitment to support the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Electronic System Implementation Governance in Child Protection (PP TUNAS), including age classification, content moderation, parental control, and education for parents.
Komdigi emphasized that PP TUNAS is the basis for child protection, while the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) functions as a technical instrument for game classification.
