Zoom Research: Young People Are More Careful In Using AI At Work

JAKARTA - A recent research from Kantar for Zoom reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) technology has become part of the daily work of workers in Asia Pacific, including Indonesia.

AI natives ( young people aged 18-24 years who live in the AI era and actively use them) and non-AI natives in Asia Pacific both see AI as part of their daily work.

However, in Indonesia this research states that only 2% of respondents said that they had not used AI in the workplace. Of these, 83% of the non-AI natives expressed interest in using AI in the workplace.

On the other hand, this report sees where 68% of AI natives tend to be more careful in using AI in the workplace, and pay more attention to data security and privacy.

AI is now forming a new way to interact both as a customer and an employee. Our findings show that organizations need to understand the different way of thinking between AI natives and non-AI natives," said Head of Asia, Zoom Lucas Lu.

However, most or 83% of Indonesian respondents believe that the ability to use AI will be their advantage when competing in the world of work.

When asked about expectations for AI-based devices, both AI natives and non-AI natives in Indonesia have similar views: AI should help them complete work faster and more efficiently (61% of AI natives, 68% of non-AI natives) and act as smarter work assistants (62% AI natives and 67% non-AI natives).

"It means, it's not enough if the company only provides access to AI-based devices, the company also needs to ensure that the technology used really helps the performance of cross-generational employees," Lucas added.

Even so, AI natives tend to be more critical and demand tangible results from the use of AI. Therefore, the company needs to help increase understanding and confidence in AI-based devices for all groups of employees.
