Komdigi Breaks Application Access And Zangi Site Because It Hasn't Registered With PSE

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Komdigi) has cut off access to the Zangi application service and website, organized by the Secret Phone, Inc.

The Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Komdigi, Alexander Sabar, emphasized that this access termination was carried out because it had not fulfilled the obligation to register as a Private Scope Electronic System Operator (PSE Private).

"This step is part of an effort to enforce applicable regulations to ensure all electronic system organizers comply with registration provisions," Alex said in his official broadcast Tuesday, October 21.

The decision is an implementation of the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Scope Electronic System Operators, which requires every PSE Private that provides services in Indonesia to be registered and has a List of Electronic System Operators (TDPSE).

According to him, this step is important to ensure compliance with digital platforms operating in Indonesia, to ensure protection for the public using digital services in Indonesia.

Until this announcement was made, Zangi had not registered as a private PSE even though his services could be accessed by the people in Indonesia.

Based on applicable regulations, PSE Privacy that does not fulfill these obligations may be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of termination of service access.

Komdigi emphasized that this step to cut off access was taken to protect the public's interests and maintain the security of the national digital space.

"Dismissal of this access is not an act of restriction, but a form of the government's commitment to enforcing rules to protect digital space governance and sustainability so that it remains safe and reliable for all users," added Alex.

Komdigi also appealed to all PSE Privacy, both from within and outside the country, to immediately register through the OSS (Online Single Submission) system and ensure that all services provided are in accordance with legal provisions in Indonesia.
