Motorola Officially Releases Android 16 Update For Edge Series

JAKARTA - Motorola is starting to roll out the Android 16 update for the Edge 60 series phones, carrying a variety of new features such as automatic notification grouping, instant hotspot connections, as well as more detailed battery insights. Currently, the update is still limited to some Edge models, while other devices such as the Razr and Moto G folding series will soon follow.

The Android 16 update presents a variety of improvements that focus on simplicity, security, and connectivity.

Some of the main features brought include:

- Notification Auto Grouping, which automatically groups notifications from the same application so that the notification panel display is neater.

- Instant Hotspot, allows users to activate the phone hotspot directly from an Android tablet or Chromebook connected to the same Google account.

- Updated UI (User Interface), with a menu display and cleaner and more modern system settings.

- More complete Battery Insights, displaying battery health data, usage statistics, and device diagnostics.

- Activity modes such as Sleeping, Driving, and Working, which allow users to adjust phone settings according to daily activities.

- Advanced Protection Access, a new security feature to access anti-stealth tools and direct identity verification from the settings menu.

For the initial stage, Android 16 updates are only available for Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, and Edge 50 Pro devices. Other series users, including Motorola Razr and Moto G, still have to wait for their next turn.

Motorola hasn't announced a definite schedule for the expansion of updates to other models, but the company affirms its commitment to faster and more consistent software updates. With competitive pressure from other Android manufacturers, updates to additional devices are expected soon.

Interestingly, the launch of Android 16 this time was carried out two months earlier than Android 15, which was just released in December 2024 for the Edge 50 series. Other Motorola phone users are advised to periodically check the software update menu to ensure availability.
