OpenAI And Jony Ive Mysterious AI Devices Experience Postponement Amid Technical Challenges

JAKARTA - The highly anticipated collaboration between OpenAI and well-known Apple designer Jony Ive is reportedly experiencing a delay due to technical and privacy challenges. Originally scheduled for release in 2026, but this screenless AI device is now facing uncertainty as both teams improve their design and capabilities.

We see a lot of AIs being integrated into products and services today. Take for example our phones. Companies like Apple, Samsung, and Google are excited to put new AI features and tools into them, giving them super powers. But the problem is, this is not the "First AI" device. They feel more like ordinary devices that happen to have AI capabilities. This is why the public is a bit disappointed to know that secret projects between OpenAI and Jony Ive may be delayed.

The device, which was developed through a partnership between OpenAI and legendary Apple designer Jony Ive, should be a major milestone for the AI company, but technical challenges have delayed it. This means that instead of a planned release for 2026, it is likely to be postponed further.

These challenges include determining the voice and personality of AI assistants, overcoming privacy concerns around sustainable hearings, and managing the computing power needed to make things run smoothly. There are some people who are already wary of smart speakers who are constantly listening, so imagine the device that does that with AI intelligence and capabilities as well.

Even so, it is still unclear what type of device the two parties are developing. According to rumors, this will be a screenless device. Given that everything has a screen lately, it's hard to imagine not having a screen to interact with.
