Through The 2025 FFWS Globals Finals, The Government Wants Indonesia To Become A World Esports Center

JAKARTA - Indonesia will host the 2025 Global Finals Free Fire World Series (FFWS) international event, which will be held in November at the Indonesia Arena.

The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that apart from being a creative stage, the 2025 FFWS was also seen by the government as a momentum to encourage Indonesia to become the center of world esports.

Teuku emphasized that organizing this global tournament not only opens up jobs, but also creates a quality industrial ecosystem.

"The momentum of the FFWS Global Final 2025 event is also important because it encourages Indonesia to continue to move into the world's esports center. Not only job space, but in the game ecosystem in particular and Indonesian creative economy activities," Teuku said at a press conference for Creative Collaboration with the Ministry of Creative Economy. Welcoming the FFWS Global Finals 2025 on Thursday, October 2.

On that occasion, Teuku appreciated Garena Indonesia's steps involving various local creators in the world-class event, including Muklay, Tahilalats, Batik Teachers, and Weird Genius.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, added that this collaboration shows that the game industry can become an effective culture diplomacy (soft diplomacy) space.

"Gim can be a playground for creative and creative fighters, while at the same time raising Indonesian culture to the eyes of the world," he said.

The government hopes that the 2025 FFWS Global Finals can be an example for other global publishers to involve more Indonesian creative IPs.

"We want more and more games to collaborate with the local creative ecosystem, so that Indonesian creativity can be present on the global stage, not just as spectators," said Teuku.
