Here's How To Disable Auto Video Screening On Facebook, Instagram, And X

JAKARTA Every social media applies a built-in automatic video playback. This means that all videos to GIFs will go live even if the user doesn't want to see them.

This also applies to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X. In fact, by disabling video playback automatically, you can save internet quota, reduce distraction, or control content better.

Fortunately, there are ways to disable automatic video playback on these three platforms. Here's how, according to TechCrunch.

Facebook

To turn off the autoplay feature on Facebook, you can start by opening your profile page. This option is in the upper right corner for the desktop and in the bottom navigation bar for the mobile app.

Next, scroll down and select Settings and Privacy, then tap the Preferences menu. After that, you will find the Media menu.

In this menu, you can set automatic video playback in Feed and Facebook Story. The trick is enough by selecting the option Never to disable it.

Instagram

On Instagram, you can disable the feature by opening your profile, namely by tapping the profile photo in the lower right corner. After that, tap the horizontal three-line menu icon in the upper right corner.

Scroll the screen to search for Settings and Activities, then select your App and Media. Next, you will find the Media Quality option.

In this section, enable the option Use less mobile data. Although not completely disabled automatic playback, this will slow down video playback when you are not connected to Wi-Fi.

Platform X

To disable the feature on X, formerly known as Twitter, tap on your profile photo in the upper left corner to open the sidebar. After that, select the Settings and Privacy menu.

Next, scroll down the screen until you find the Accessibility, display, and language section. In this option, you will find the Data Usage menu to disable Video Autoplay.

For further control, return to Settings and Privacy, then select View and Sound. Next, you can disable Media Preview to prevent video previews from appearing.
