JAKARTA - ChatGPT's parent company, OpenAI, is looking for local partners to set up a data center in India with a minimum capacity of 1 gigawatt. This was reported by Bloomberg News on Monday, September 1, citing unnamed sources.
This news itself has not been officially confirmed. Moreover, OpenAI did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters outside of normal working hours.
OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, has been officially registered as a legal entity in India and has started building a local team. The company in August said it plans to open its first India office in New Delhi this year, expanding its presence in its second largest market by user base.
