JAKARTA Spotify launched the Message feature in its application. With this feature, users can chat directly from within the app and they can share content easily.
Spotify launched the Messages feature to encourage more interaction on the platform. Through this feature, users can not only interact, but can also revisit favorite songs that have previously been discussed.
" Spotify users told us they wanted a special space in the app to share the songs, podcasts, or audiobooks they love," Spotify said on Tuesday, August 26. "We want to give users what users want and make these connection moments more smooth and efficient."
Like apps in general, Messages on Spotify are personal. Users can only share messages if they previously shared content, either through a collaborative list or a joint music group.
After the user sends a chat request, the person sent the message must agree to the request first. Later, the user can send an invitation link to someone in the contact to start the conversation.

Spotify states that messages are encrypted when stored and sent, but do not use end-to-end encryption. The company will check messages proactively to detect rule violations.
Users can access the message feature by tapping their profile photo. This option is available in the Message section on the navigation bar on the left side. This feature will be launched for premium and free users over the age of 16.
For now, the features are only available in Latin and Southern America. Spotify plans to expand its features to other countries such as the US, Canada, and the UK.
