JAKARTA Microsoft is testing a new feature that allows users to access apps from their Android phones on Windows-based PCs. The company is testing the feature in Windows 11.

Users can access this feature via Windows Insider on the Dev and Beta Channels. However, the feature is still rolling out in stages so you may not be able to access or find the feature in that version.

Although the idea is to operate an application from an Android phone on a PC, Windows 11 Insider currently only supports the playback of the Spotify application. With this capability, users can change the music directly from the PC used.

"As a first step, you can go ahead or continue listening to favorite Spotify songs and episodes right from the last part you're listening to on your Spotify app on your Android phone," Microsoft said, quoted on Tuesday, August 26.

To try this feature, users must first connect their Android phone to PC. After playing the song on Spotify, Windows 11 will display a notification 'Continue from your phone'.

Users can select this option to continue the song on PC. Once the notification is selected, the Spotify app on PC will open. If not installed, users will be asked to install the Spotify app first. This feature is very similar to Handoff on macOS.

Microsoft has not disclosed plans for an expansion of this feature in the future. However, this feature will be very useful for a wide range of activities. Users can continue reading articles or writing emails on a computer after starting on a cellphone.
