JAKARTA - Ahead of its planned launch in the first half of September 2025, new rumors are circulating again regarding the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This time, leaks came from the well-known leaker from China, Instant Digital, which claims that the largest model of the iPhone 17 Pro line will get a significant increase in the performance of telephoto cameras.

Through uploads on Weibo social media, Instant Digital says the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be the strongest telephoto mobile phone to be released next month. Even so, these claims have drawn doubts considering that the standards for the predicate are quite high, and the technical details of this upgrade have not been disclosed specifically.

Rumors surrounding the iPhone 17 Pro camera have been circulating for a long time. One of the things that caught the eye the most was the news that the new telephoto camera had resolved 48 megapixels. Initially, this technology was said to be present in both Pro models, but the latest leaks showed that the best telephoto sensor would only be embedded in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

In addition, there is speculation that this device will support the ability of up to 8x optical zoom. However, it is not yet clear whether this feature is exclusive to the Pro Max variant or not. Given its larger body size, Apple does have more room to place more advanced camera components on Pro Max.

The move to differentiate the camera feature among variants is nothing new for Apple. Previously, the iPhone 8 Plus was the only one equipped with double optical image stabilization, while the iPhone 12 Max had a larger major sensor with optical sensor-shift stabilization technology. Usually, this technology will eventually decline to a smaller Pro model in the next generation.

Although Instant Digital has an accurate track record in some leaks, as predicted by the yellow iPhone 14 and camera control buttons on the iPhone 16 they have also missed. Therefore, this information still needs to be addressed carefully until Apple officially announces it next month.
