JAKARTA Apple will use the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model from third parties to support Siri's improvement. The two models being tested belonged to OpenAI and Anthropic.
Apple faces many challenges in developing AI-based Siri. In fact, the company failed to launch an upgraded Siri on the iOS 18 update. To overcome this obstacle, Apple may consider a third-party AI model.
Reporting from Bloomberg, AI and Siri Division Leader Mike Rockwell asked his team to evaluate the performance of several external AI models. The company tested the model Claude from Anthropic, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Gemini from Google.
This test was carried out to find out which models could handle basic demand better than the models Apple developed. Reportedly, Claude showed the best performance in the test.

It is possible that Apple will collaborate with Anthropic in advancing Siri's capabilities. However, Apple has not yet decided what AI model they will use because the company is still open to various other options.
In addition to conducting internal testing, Apple is known to have asked OpenAI and Anthropic to develop their major language model versions. These models will be tested on Apple's private cloud infrastructure.
Plans to integrate third-party AI models into Siri are still in the early stages. Apple is also still considering using an internal model. If this happens, Siri will not be integrated with Claude or ChatGPT.
