JAKARTA - Blue Origin seems ready to open its space tourism service by riding the New Shepard sub-orbital rocket. Reportedly, tickets for the trip will go on sale on May 5.

However, the space company owned by Jeff Besoz was reluctant to tell when the tour would start, and how much the ticket cost. It is claimed that the fare for one passenger will cost up to hundreds of thousands of US dollars.

Reporting from TechCrunch, a trip into space in the New Shepard capsule allows passengers to spend several minutes completely weightless in zero gravity, with multiple windows for taking a space-based perspective.

Blue Origin did not share more details for the space travel ticket sale. However, on the company website, they only invite people to register.

"Sign up to learn how you can buy your first seat on New Shepard", wrote Blue Origin on its official website.

The company's website also features a video of Jeff Bezos who appears to be going to the New Shepard capsule after the company's test flight earlier this month. The video shows him driving across the Texas desert, a remote location of the New Shepard launch facility, most notably at the wheel of the Rivian R1T electric truck, which is adorned with his signature Blue Origin fur.

The New Shepard is designed to carry as many as six people on a journey across the edge of space, with the capsules on previous test flights reaching altitudes of more than 340,000 feet (or more than 100 km).

The capsule has a large window to provide a wide view to passengers, because later on when they travel they will spend 10 minutes in zero gravity before returning to Earth.

The rocket will be launched vertically, with the boosters disengaged and returning to the ground near the concrete base. Return of the capsules would later be slowed down by a set of parachutes, before landing slowly in the desert.
