JAKARTA There are many challenges faced by technology companies in developing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model, one of which is hallucinations. However, this problem is not very fatal.

CEO of Anthropic Dario Amodei, reported by TechCrunch, admits that today's AI models can hallucidate or fabricate answers. However, when compared to human abilities, hallucinations in AI models are at a lower level.

This statement was made when Amodei was asked about hallucinations in his AI model. According to Amodei, AI hallucinations are not a limit for companies to develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), AI systems with human-level or even more capabilities.

"It really depends on how you measure it, but I suspect that AI models may have less hallucinations than humans, but they are hallucinating in a more surprising way," Amodei said, quoted on Friday, May 23.

Amodei seems optimistic about their AI development. The Anthropic leader also doesn't think too much about obstacles like a hallucatory system. Instead of finding obstacles, Anthropic sees stable progress in his AI model.

"Everyone is always looking for obstacles that hinder what (the AI model) can do," said Amodei. "These things don't look at all. There's nothing (obstacles) like that."

Anthropic's optimism for their AI development has been seen since last year. In a widely circulated paper, Amodei believes that they can bring AGI sooner, around 2026.

Anthropic's leadership's response to AI hallucinations is quite interesting because not a few leaders of technology companies are disturbed by this problem. In fact, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis admits that hallucinations are an obstacle to achieving AGI.

According to Demis, the currently available AI model still has many shortcomings in it. The reason is, the AI model still makes a lot of mistakes, especially in answering clear questions.
