Microsoft Adds Researcher And Analyst Capabilities To AI Copilot

JAKARTA Microsoft introduced two new agents for Copilot, namely Researcher and Analyst. The two agents were able to analyze large amounts of information by prioritizing security.

The technology company said that Researchers and Analysts were the first two reasoning agents specifically designed to support work. This in-depth research capability is supported by OpenAI's Artificial Intelligence (AI) model.

The two agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot can read job data such as email, digital files, chats, online meetings, and other data. Their capabilities are almost similar, but Researchers and Analysts are designed for different purposes.

Researchers use OpenAI's in-depth research model. This model was developed with 'advanced orchestration' so that its search capabilities can be very deep. This agent can be used to create market strategies.

In addition, Researchers can identify new product launch opportunities based on trends, make quarterly reports, and other forms of analysis. Overall, these agents are designed to handle complex and gradual research.

"Researcher can take advantage of third-party data through connectors to improve its capabilities and provide more comprehensive insight enabling it to integrate data from external sources," Microsoft said in its official broadcast.

Meanwhile, Analyst is an agent that can help its users switch from raw data to complete insight in just a few minutes. This agent is designed as a skilled data scientist.

Analysts are supported by the o3-mini reasoning model developed by OpenAI. This model allows Analyst to carry out advanced data analysis, reasoning for recurring problems, taking steps to perfect the results of reasoning, and others.

This agent is also designed to handle complex tasks. Analysts can run Python to handle the most complicated data query. In fact, users can see the code that Analyst runs in real-time.

The two agents supporting these workers will be officially available in April as part of the latest Frontier program. Researchers and Analysts can only be accessed by Microsoft 365 subscribers.
