JAKARTA Zoom Communication launched a new agentic capability on its platform. This ability can make AI Companion an independent agent for several features within the Zoom Workplace.
While on average tech companies are leveraging a large language model (LLM) to respond to complex promotions, Zoom relies on small language model-powered Artificial Intelligence (AI) (SLM) agents to develop AI Companion technology.
Unlike LLM, SLM uses training data and more focused parameters. Although in terms of capabilities it remains the same, SLM is considered lighter and more efficient. That way, AI Companion can become an agent as well as an assistant in carrying out its duties.
"AI Companion evolved from an assistant to an agent, a major breakthrough on how AI can increase productivity and collaboration in the work environment," Zoom Chief Product Officer Smita Hashim said in a statement.
Smita pun menekankan bahwa agentic dapat lebih menangani masalah penggunanya dan tetap terhubung dengan platform Zoom. AI Agentic ini bisa dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas serta mempererat relasi para penggunanya.

Thanks to AI agentic, AI Companion can set an agenda such as scheduling meetings and finding suitable times for all team members, making clips quickly, tidying up the contents of the documents, and much more.
There are several other features that can be accessed on AI Companion, from Zoom Tasks to setting up tasks in Zoom Workplace, Live Notes to make summarys in real-time, to a summary of voicemail in the Zoom Phone feature.
