JAKARTA - Apple is reportedly preparing for major changes to its operating system, including iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16. According to a Bloomberg report written by Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based company is redesigning user interfaces to create consistency across its platforms.

This change is referred to as the "largest reshuffle since iOS 7" for the iPhone and iPad, as well as "the most significant update to the Mac since macOS Big Sur."

Recent reports from Bloomberg also reveal that Apple executives believe users will like a new design inspired by the Vision Pro's visionOS, the operating system used on the Vision Pro headset.

Gurman explained that changes to iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 are not just display refreshers, but will also change the way users interact with their devices over the years to come.

"This new surface will adopt the design principle of visionOS, including greater transparency as well as new types of windows and buttons," Gurman wrote. "The goal is to make all Apple devices feel more consistent and familiar."

Although major changes in design often pose a risk, Apple believes that users will not be bothered by this reshuffle. "Apple executives believe users will like this new look and feel," Gurman said.

Apple claims that this design will make devices easier to use, more quickly navigated, and more intuitive to study. In addition, this update is also expected to support the development of future hardware, including folding devices and Macs with touchscreens.

Apple is also targeting that this new design is more in line with the era of artificial intelligence assistants (AI). This change is designed so that users do not need to continuously switch between applications, but can access information and services more efficiently.
