JAKARTA Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud service from Amazon, shows its commitment to empowering the people of the country through investments of more than five billion US dollars (Rp 81.6 trillion).
Investment in this cloud data center also includes developing digital skills or increasing talent, encouraging sustainability, and improving people's welfare. From this investment, AWS wants to create a chain effect on the local economy.
AWS has contributed to creating digital talent since launching AWS Region in Jakarta in 2021. The cloud company presents various talent development programs that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
Not yet, AWS also launched the STEAM Capacity Building: Exploring AI & ML program with the Achievements of Junior Indonesia (PJI). Through this program, AWS provides basic training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to 40 teachers from 40 schools in the West Java area.
All of these teachers are supported to experiment and create AI and Machine Learning (ML) projects. The experiment is supported by a curriculum created by AJI and App Labs of Code.org, a leading nonprofit organization focused on computer science education.
After the training is complete, these 40 teachers will integrate AI and ML into their curriculum so that what they learn can reach more than 2,400 students. This program received appreciation from the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid.

"We appreciate AWS' continued contribution in Indonesia," said Meutya in a statement. "Along with the acceleration of digital transformation in Indonesia, strong collaboration between governments and technology partners such as AWS is very important to create workers who are ready to face the future."
Meutya also mentioned two important programs from AWS, namely Terampil di Awan (TdA) and Think Big Space. Tda is a cloud training program for students, educators, and underprivileged communities in 26 provinces.
Meanwhile, Think Big Space is the first STEAM learning center in the ASEAN region to be built last October. This learning center is built to be a means of training and education for thousands of students and the public every year.
"Programs such as Terampil di Awan and Think Big Space directly support our national agenda to strengthen digital literacy, prepare Indonesian workers, and encourage sustainable digital growth," said Meutya.
