JAKARTA - Online dating app Tinder said it would launch AI-powered features (Artificial Intelligence) in the coming quarters to increase the number of users.

In Q4's earnings release, the company mentions that the recommendations provided by AI, provide a more personal match, than that the user must manually shift the profile.

However, CFO Match Group, Gary Swidler emphasized that this matching option with AI will be a complement, not just to replace the main essence of shifting the profile of the application.

We want to see a lot of people use that feature and give it a try. We also want to see an improvement in the quality of matching," Swidler quoted TechCrunch as saying.

With this AI-powered feature, Swidler added, the company wants to provide an improved and better quality matching experience than ever before, which will attract more users.

"We want to see that the product really provides results for people in terms of improved quality matching that will increase perception of the product, which will help us drive user growth," he added.

In addition to a more accurate matching, another AI feature also mentioned in the call is AI Photo Finder, which helps users choose the best profile photos for their dating profile.

This feature was launched last year. The addition of AI technology comes at a challenging time for Tinder and the dating app industry as a whole.
