Getting To Know Algoritma Hill: Facilities & Access Towards Indonesia's 'Silicon Valley'

YOGYAKARTA - The government will establish a technology center in a special economic zone (KEK) in Sukabumi, West Java. The project, which is named Algoritma Hill, is predicted to be built like Silicon Valley in the United States.

Silicon Valley itself is the name for the area in Santa Clara Valley which is in the south of the Bay Area, San Francisco. This place is the headquarters of many of the world's leading technology companies.

In Indonesia itself, a duplicate of Silicon Valley did emerge. Several locations that had been predicted to become Indonesia's Silicon Valley include Malang, Yogyakarta, BSD Serpong, and Batam.

Algoritma Hill is expected to become a center for research and technology development, as well as a center for human resource development in the future. In particular the development of technology and industry 4.0.

The facility to be built on the Sukabumi Algoritma Hill

President Director of State-Owned Enterprises in the Construction Sector, PT Amarta Karya (AMKA), Nikolas Agung on Monday, April 19, 2021, said the construction of Algoritma Hill would begin after the upcoming Eid.

He revealed that the initial stages of infrastructure development include several things, such as the construction of road access, power plants, clean water management, research equipment, and a number of other facilities.

"The construction of the first phase consists of several things, namely related to infrastructure, namely building roads. "There will be one gate with the Bacimi toll road which is close to the Cikidang direction," said Nikolas, as quoted by VOI from Antara, Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

He claims that the 880-hectare land is already in demand by several investors, such as the construction of a one-megawatt solar cell energy sector.

"They (investors) have visited here some time ago. And they have prepared a minimum of 7 hectares for solar sell of one megawatt, even the market has been scoured," he explained.

Nikolas added that his party will also build arterial roads in the area, which will also be related to public street lighting. After the infrastructure is completed, there will be dirty water management and clean water management.

"Then land arrangement. Even in the first set, it will build five areas and support research centers, there is nanotechnology. Including preparing the land ready to build," he said.

Next, what will be made is a study center for the area and exploration of air space for the manufacture of drones.

"The development of transport drones, spray drones, surveillance drones, military drones, cargo drones, transport drones that can fly hundreds of kilometers," he said.

Access to Algoritma Hill

It should be noted, Algoritma Hill will be built in Cikadang, Sukabumi, West Java. Within a radius of 50 kilometers from the construction site, there are no universities or colleges.

In addition, the infrastructure to get to Algoritma Hill is also inadequate. Therefore, it is necessary to build infrastructure from the Cibadak Toll gate to the Algoritma Hill area.

"We will initiate access roads, regional roads, then there will be lighting," said Amka Director Nikolas Agung.

Currently, to reach Algoritma Hill using a private car, it takes about 2.5 hours from Tebet, South Jakarta.

However, with the construction of a 10 km toll road that will connect the Cibadak Toll Road with the Algoritma Hill area, which will become the largest technology center in Indonesia will be more easily accessible from the city of Jakarta and its surroundings.
