Apple Worries About The Presence Of Hot Tub Pornography Applications On IOS

JAKARTA - A third-party application store, AltStore announced that a pornographic application called Hot Tub is now available for iOS users in the European Union.

The marketplace, which allows people in the EU to download apps outside the App Store on Apple devices, claims Hot Tub as Apple's "first approved pornographic app."

In response to the app's presence, Apple said it was very worried. We are very concerned about the security risks posed by this type of hardcore porn app for EU users, especially children," an Apple spokesperson said in a statement to Engadget.

The tech giant realized the presence of the pornographic application would undermine consumer confidence in Apple's ecosystem about user security so far.

Apple also confirmed that AltStore's claim that Hot Tub became Apple's first pornographic app was an incorrect statement.

"This application and other similar applications will undermine consumer confidence and confidence in our ecosystem. Contrary to the false statements made by market developers, we certainly do not approve of this application and will never offer it on our App Store," he stressed.

The presence of this application is a direct impact of the Digital Markets Act (DMA), a European Union regulation requiring Apple to allow third-party app stores to operate on iOS through a notarization process.

However, even though an app has been approved through a notaryization process, Apple says that that doesn't mean they support the presence of the app.

On the other hand, AltStore creator Riley Testut denied Apple's accusations that they were giving misleading statements. According to him, Hot Tub has gone through Apple's notarization process and was approved by Apple employees for distribution in alternative marketplaces such as AltStore PAL.

"DMA also doesn't require Apple to approve the app to be distributed, they have chosen to do it themselves," said Testut.
