JAKARTA Firefly Aerospace provides the latest information about the Blue Ghost spacecraft. The lander has shown significant progress since its launch to the Moon two weeks ago.
On January 27, 2025, Blue Ghost captured a picture of the first month while in Earth's orbit. This image is taken from the deck of the lander's vehicle. There are two pictures displayed by Firefly, namely the moon that seems to be above the lander and the moon that looks very far away.
Before taking pictures of the Moon, Blue Ghost also took pictures of Earth during the second engine combustion process. From the images shared, Earth looks closer because the Blue Ghost lander has not yet entered Trans Lunar Injection.
In addition to sharing images, Firefly also began to calibrate an X-ray image named LEXI, abbreviation from the Lunar Environment Heliospheric X-ray Imager. This operation was carried out to maximize LEXI's performance and prepare operations while on the lunar surface.

LEXI will be calibrated every day until the instrument lands on the Moon. Later, the instrument developed by NASA and other agencies will be used to monitor the interaction of Earth's magnetosphere with solar winds and anti-radiation computers.
"The payload will then capture a series of X-ray images to study the interaction of the solar wind and Earth's magnetic field that drives geomagnetic disturbances and storms on our home planet," Firefly said through its official website on January 28.
Blue Ghost is part of the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program initiated by NASA. The program is run to support the Artemis campaign. There are ten payloads brought to the Moon to study Earth and its natural satellites.
