Garena Holds Back For Round 2 Game Game Competition, Followed By 130 Students

JAKARTA - After the success with its first edition in 2023, Garena again presented the Garena Game Jam competition: Back For Round 2 at the Ciputra University campus in Surabaya, Surabaya, East Java on January 24-26, 2025.

This event was attended as a competition as well as networking event for young game developers from students and students to compete for the game within 48 hours.

Compared to the first time that was attended by 100 participants, Garena Game Jam: Back For Round 2 this time was attended by 130 students and students.

"Garena is proud to be the first global game company to present Game Jam in Indonesia as a competition and networking platform for young developers," said Hans Saleh, Garena Indonesia Country Head in an official statement on Saturday, January 25.

He hopes that this event can inspire cross-stakeholder collaboration to create more opportunities and collaboration spaces for young game developers in Indonesia.

This event was also supported by the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), the Arek Suroboyo Developer Game (GADAS), and the University of Ciputra Surabaya as partners.

"We appreciate Garena Game Jam as a form of collaboration between the government, Garena, and educational institutions in building a digital talent ecosystem in the field," said Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital and Technology Creativity, Kemenparekraf RI.

In addition to presenting the competition, Garena Game Jam will provide a transfer of knowledge through a live mentoring session from Garena's global developer team.

Some of the professionals who will attend this event include the global developer team Free Fire, the battle royale game made by Garena.

Later, the winner of Garena Game Jam: Back for Round 2 has the opportunity to bring home a total prize worth Rp. 30 million. In addition, they also had the opportunity to join the upcoming ERX event with Garena Indonesia.
