Bluesky Users Reach 25.94 Million, Ready To Strengthen Content Moderation In 2025

JAKARTA - Based on its latest moderation report, rival social media platform X, Bluesky announced that by 2024, they had managed to collect 25.94 million users, up 2.89 million.

Along with user growth, official report by Aaron Rodericks published on January 17, 2025 noted a major spike in moderation reports, from 358,000 reports in 2023 to 6.48 million in 2024, an increase of 17 times.

"We are increasing the moderation team to around 100 moderators and continuing to recruit new staff. Some moderators specialize in certain policy areas, such as specifically for child safety," the company wrote in its report.

In this report, Bluesky also detailed the most widely accepted reporting categories, including:

The proportion of users who send reports is quite stable from 2023 to 2024. In 2023, 5.6 percent of active users submit one or more reports. In 2024, 1.19 million users (4.57 percent of the total users) submit reports," he noted.

Bluesky also noted a major effort in child safety by reporting 1,154 cases of child sexual abuse (CSAM) material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

In 2025, Bluesky is committed to expanding automation tools, increasing responses to urgent violations, and providing more transparency to users regarding their reports and appeals.
