JAKARTA OpenAI will lose one of the main researchers in safety. On Saturday, November, VP of Research and Safety OpenAI Lilian Weng said that she would leave the company.

Through platform X, Weng explains that he will be working until November 15. Weng will leave the company to start a new journey and learn more.

"After working at OpenAI for almost 7 years, I decided to quit. I learned a lot and now I'm ready to start again and do something new," Weng wrote.

The former Head of the OpenAI Safety System Team revealed that he has gone through various job challenges. When he first joined, Weng had to study full stack robotics from algorithms to firmware.

This work was successfully handled within two years. After that, OpenAI began entering the GPT and Weng plan and its team had to explore new ways to present the best Artificial Intelligence (AI) model.

"I built the first Applied Research team, which launched the initial versions of the API refinement, API embedding, and a moderation endpoint, building foundations for applied safety work, as well as new solutions for many early API customers," Weng said.

In line with the development of the GPT, Weng has trained AI models to handle sensitive and unsafe requests, make OpenAI chatbots work in a balanced manner and prioritize safety, as well as develop leading moderation models in the industry.

"Seeing what we have accomplished, I am very proud of everyone in the Security System team and I firmly believe that the team will continue to grow," Weng said. "OpenAl is in a rapid growth trajectory and I wish everyone here all the best."
