Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Hary Budiarto said the government is aiming for talents for startup developers through the Digital Talent Center (DTC).
According to Hary, the creation of startups through DTC complements other functions from the digital HR training center to produce digital talents to meet industrial needs.
"The so-called Digital Talent Center is not only to fulfill the industry. But we also make digital entrepreneurship. So the talents whose souls become startups. So with the startup, he can produce new jobs again," said Hary in Yogyakarta, Saturday.
Hary said the creation of talent to develop startups is needed so that later new jobs can be created produced by digital talent assisted by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
Thus, digital talent printed by the Government is not only limited to filling the needs of the industry but can also contribute directly to the growth of the national digital economy.
This is in line with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics' program to improve the quality of digital talent next year which is expected to be able to improve the Indonesian Digital Community Index (IMDI).
In the 2024 IMDI, the Ministry of Communication and Information made measurements in 514 cities and Indonesian districts which nationally achieved a score of 43.34 up 0.16 from 2023.
This total value is obtained as the average result of measurements carried out on four pillars, namely digital infrastructure which is worth 52.70, then digital skills with a value of 58.25, then empowerment with a value of 25.68, and work with a value of 38.09.
An increase in the quality of digital talent is needed to boost the two pillars which are considered lacking, namely related to empowerment and absorption of work.
So far, ten DTCs have been recorded in Indonesia, including Cikarang, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Medan, Makassar, and Manado.
In addition, the Ministry of Communication and Information is also planning to develop other DTCs with three regional priorities.
The first priority will be carried out in Jambi, South Sumatra, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Gorontalo, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and West Papua.
Then, the second priority DTC development areas include Riau, Banten, and the State Capital (IKN) Nusantara.
Meanwhile, other provinces are categorized as third priority areas.
