Londonium City, Main Inspiration For Civilization VII Games

JAKARTA - Civilization fans are still patiently waiting for the latest series from the cult video game. Interestingly, the inspiration behind Civilization VII is none other than the British capital, Londinium - the name for London for the Romans.

The main developer of the game Ed Beach, explains Londinium looks like a Roman city in general with amphitheaters, baths, and seesaw bridges that cross the southern side of the Thames River.

He also showed several areas in the city of London that have been allowed by the Encyclopaedia Britannica. And the plan is that the area will be used as a simulation of the venue from Civilization VII.

The developer said that even though he had obtained permission from the Encyclopaedia Britannica, his party was still conducting research related to growth and development from the City of London.

"The lesson of these changes will be the core of this new game," he said as reported by VOI from the BBC, Sunday, August 25.

The first series of video games of the cult has sold 70 million copies since its start in 1991 - with the last edition released in 2016. For those who don't know, Civilization is sometimes more like a board game than a video game.

The previous game in this series has locked players into playing leaders and combinations of certain civilizations, such as Teddy Roosevelt and the United States, or Cleopatra and Egypt.

"In this new game, players can start as Romans, build their own Londinum in the so-called ancient era," he concluded.
