JAKARTA - PT Sahabat Send Digital, the owner of the Easylink brand, a Payment Services Provider (PJP), has denied allegations by the Ministry of Communication and Information regarding its affiliation with online gambling transactions in Indonesia.

Easylink CEO Yoga Chandra Sudewo admitted that Easylink together with 20 other registered PJP suspected of being affiliated with online gambling attended an online meeting with Bank Indonesia on Saturday, August 10, to provide clarification on news circulating in the media.

Then on August 12, Yoga also said that his party had met with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to discuss online gambling prevention strategies on payment system platforms.

"We strictly comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the Republic of Indonesia," Yoga said in a statement received by VOI on Tuesday, August 13.

After the meeting, Yoga said that Kominfo had provided clarification and ensured that Easylink's electronic system services did not facilitate and/or support online gambling activities.

"To get an operational permit from Bank Indonesia is not easy and we will not risk our permits from Bank Indonesia to be revoked by facilitating illegal transactions, especially online gambling," said Yoga.

"Easylink is committed to preventing and mitigating the potential utilization of its electronic system services in transactions related to online gambling activities," he concluded.

In a separate statement, Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria has also conveyed that Kominfo is currently still actively discussing with PJP regarding the eradication of online gambling.

"Yes, we are having a dialogue with them (42 PSE). The letter has been sent. So this is an effort to prevent online gambling from upstream to downstream," said Nezar after the Indonesia Internet Expo and Summit (IIXS) 2024 event.
