Regarding The Maximum Restriction On Credit Transactions, XL Axiata Supports The Government's Efforts To Eradicate Judol

JAKARTA - The telecommunications service provider XL Axiata has confirmed that there has been a discussion with the Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi to limit the maximum credit transaction per day by one million rupiah.

"Yes, that's right, there have been joint discussions about this with operators including XL Axiata," XL Head of External Communications Axiata Henry Wijayanto told VOI on Friday, August 2 via text message.

Previously, Budi said that the decision to limit credit transactions was made as a form of effort from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics in eradicating online gambling practices, which now use credit transfer methods as a medium for playing.

Henry also admitted that XL is currently still in the stage of studying the Minister of Communication and Information's appeal, along with other cellular operators, including Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Smartfren, and Telkomsel.

However, XL Axiata itself is committed to supporting the government's efforts to eradicate online gambling which is increasingly rife in Indonesia today.

"Currently we are still learning about this. In principle, we are very supportive of eradicating online gambling (judol) in the most appropriate way," added Henry.

In addition, Kominfo has also taken steps forward by blocking access to online gambling sites via Virtual Private Network (VPN). Budi admitted that he had tested access blocking with three widely used free VPN brands.

"According to the Directorate General of Aptika, there are 20-30 companies. As of yesterday, we first tested 3 which indicated that most of them were used for online gambling, later we will gradually block all free VPNs containing negative content," continued Budi.
