JAKARTA - OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, announced on Tuesday July 23, that Aleksander Madry, AI security lead at the company, is working on a very important new research project. This step was taken in line with the overhaul of the readiness team at OpenAI.

"Aleksander is working on a very important new research project," Altman wrote in a post on the social media platform study.

The readiness team is tasked with evaluating the general artificial intelligence (AGI) readiness of the company's AI models, an OpenAI spokesperson said in a statement. Madry will take on a larger role in the research organization following the move.

Madry did not immediately respond to a request for comment."Joaquin and Lilian will take over the readiness team as part of unifying our safety work," Altman wrote in the post.

The information was first reported by The Information, which said that researcher Tejal Patwardhan would manage much of the team's work.

The moves come as OpenAI's chatbots, which can carry out human-like conversations and create videos and images based on text commands, are growing in power and raising concerns about security.

Earlier this year, the Microsoft-backed company  formed a Security and Protection Committee led by board members, including CEO Sam Altman, ahead of their next artificial intelligence model training.
