JAKARTA - MetaMask, a digital wallet developed by ConsenSys, introduces a new Ethereum staking service. The service promises convenience for users to stake Ether (ETH) in the number they want, a move that opens wider opportunities for participation in the Ethereum ecosystem. However, this service comes with certain limitations, especially the non-availability of users in the United States and Britain.

Reporting from CoinGape, this MetaMask staking service changes the way users interact with the Ethereum staking mechanism. Previously, the minimum 32 ETH limit, which is equivalent to about 113,000 US Dollars (approximately IDR 1.8 billion), is needed to participate as a validator. Now, by using the StakeWise protocol, users can stake at any amount, providing more people with the opportunity to contribute to the security of the Ethereum blockchain.

Although this service is innovative, MetaMask has launched it with access restrictions for users in the US and UK, given the regulatory changes that have occurred in the two countries. ConsenSys plans to expand this staking service to those markets as legal situations become clearer.

Currently, MetaMask's centralized staking is supported by more than 33,000 Ethereum validators, with more than 1 million ETH being staked. According to a ConsenSys report, 99.9% of these validators are active and operating without incident.

In addition, MetaMask also plans to add support for Bitcoin (BTC) in the near future, which will allow users to manage Bitcoin and Ethereum assets from one interface. This is a significant step that reflects the increasingly close integration between various crypto ecosystems.

On the other hand, the price of Ethereum has shown recovery following lower US CPI inflation data than expected, which increases market confidence. Currently, ETH is trading at 3,635 US Dollars (approximately IDR 59 million), up 3.50% from its daily low of 3,434 US Dollars (approximately IDR 55 million).
