JAKARTA - Sales of Apple in China continue to decline due to the ban on sales in the country. In order to boost sales figures, Apple provides a massive discount on the iPhone 15 series.

This discount is somewhat unusual because it is bigger than usual. Reporting from Reuters, the technology company cut the prices of several iPhone models to 70 US dollars or around Rp. 1,088 million.

This discount can be seen on China's special Apple Storeonline on Monday, January 15 to welcome the Chinese New Year. Although the promotion has been seen, the price will only apply on January 18 to 21.

In fact, Apple has never cut the price of their mobile device for three years. Although this price cut is fairly rare, this is not surprising because Apple did not raise the price of the iPhone 15 series at launch.

Apple is increasingly pressed by sales figures so they have to give the discount. In fact, on China's online shopping platform such as Pinduoduo, Apple has cut the iPhone 15 series price by 16 percent this year.

Apple's product purchase and sale bans are not made in the form of legal regulations, but in forced verbal form. Due to the ban, Apple's revenue fell to Rp1.3 quadrillion in the fourth quarter of 2023.

From Boloomberg's recent reports, several government companies in eight provinces banned the use of foreign devices such as Apple. Employees should wear local brands such as Huawei or Xiaomi.

This instruction continues to be issued for several months and employees are given a deadline to replace their devices. Although coercive, the impact is not yet known if employees try to ignore the ban.
