Not Officially Registered, Social Media Clubhouse Can Be Closed At The Ministry Of Communication And Information

JAKARTA - Clubhouse became a byword because this discussion platform was followed by many well-known influencers. Moreover, this social media platform (medsos) is fairly exclusive for iOS users.

Unfortunately, this elite social media is still not registered as part of electronic system administrators in Indonesia. If you don't register yourself, after the regulations apply, the Clubhouse can be blocked in Indonesia.

"Clubhouse has not been registered with Kominfo and we hope to register according to the provisions of PM 5/2020," said Dedy Permadi, spokesman for the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo), Tuesday, February 16.

Referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Environmental Electronic System Operators. This regulation will be effective from 24 November 2020.

This means that Clubhouse only has about three months left, before the audio-based social media (medsos) is cut off access to its services, aka blocked by Kominfo. If you don't immediately register or have a service representative in Indonesia.

"According to PM number 5 of 2020 Article 7 paragraph (2), those who do not register according to the applicable policies will receive administrative sanctions in the form of termination of access," he added.

The Clubhouse app functions like social media, offering audio conversations and is currently only available on Apple's proprietary iOS operating system. Clubhouse was launched in March last year, its popularity in Indonesia has skyrocketed since Tesla CEO Elon Musk spoke on the platform a few weeks ago.

Unlike other social media where users are free to register, Clubhose can only be obtained through a special invitation. Users can still download the Clubhouse application, however, in order to register and log in, they must receive an invitation from another person who already has an account at the Clubhouse.
