JAKARTA On November 22, 2023, the United States Space Force (US) extended its contract for maintenance of the US military communications system for up to eight years, to be precise until 2031.

This contract was given to Kratos Defense & Security Solutions. Since 2002, they have served the Military Force's Sustainability and Resilience System (C-SAR).

According to a Spacenews report, this newly extended contract is an unlimited shipping contract or unlimited quantity with a value of 579 million US dollars or around Rp. 8.9 trillion.

Through this new agreement, the company will assist the maintenance and development of four C-SAR constellations for use by the US Space Force and US Space Command.

The four constellations that are part of C-SAR are the Defense Satellite Communication System (DSCS) III, the Milstar Satellite Communication System, Very High Frequency Advanced Level (AEHF), and Wideband Global Satellite Communication (WGS).

Not only focusing on the four constellations, Kratos will also support the development of 26 military communications satellites.

They will do their job at the Vandenberg Space Force Base and the Peterson Space Force Base.

In addition to focusing on maintenance and development, Kratos will also be responsible for infrastructure improvements from all of these satellites.

Not only that, Kratos will also integrate new satellites with constellations in the future.
