JAKARTA - Over the past few years, Google has continued to develop search engine results to suit users' needs. To make this happen, Google added a panel "About These Results" yesterday, Monday, February 1.
The panel contains detailed information about the web system that appears in the search results column. Through this brief information panel, users can better identify the information provider site so that they can determine the level of trust in the site.
“Starting today, you will see the presence of a menu icon next to the search results. You can click or tap the menu icon to learn more about the results related to where the information comes from, ”wrote Google through the company's official blog, Monday, February 1.
Located on the right side of the search results, this panel summarizes a variety of detailed information regarding the source site. Starting from the Wikipedia summary, as well as the HTTPS status when the page was first indexed by Google.
"If the information comes from a site you've never known about, this additional information can give you context or confidence, especially when you're looking for something important, like health or financial information," explained Google.
Apart from search results in the form of a website, Google has also added an 'About These Results' panel to the 'Knowledge Panel'. Examples include business listings and job vacancies located around the user.
The technology giant Google hopes that this feature can help users make decisions before starting to read information through sites that appear in search results.
So that it can reduce searches related to the reputation of a news or information site and make it easier for users to find the most useful information.
At the moment, the About Search Results feature is only available in the United States (US) and in English only. The company also has not provided further information regarding its plans to launch this feature in other countries.
"We will start launching About Search Results today (Monday, February 1) in English in the US (United States) on desktop, mobile sites, and Google applications on Android," said Google.
The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
