China Plans To Launch Long March 11 Rocket From The Middle Of The Sea

JAKARTA - China will launch its rockets from the sea. Not only that, but they will launch 3 rockets at once. The rocket named Long March 11 will be flown in 2021.

Previously, China had conducted a test run in June 2019 from a rocket base located in the Yellow Sea. In the test, they managed to fly 7 satellites into low earth orbit.

The second launch took place in September 2020. The effort was successful in flying 9 satellites. Now, China is developing a rocket manufacturing and testing facility in Shandong.

"According to user needs, we plan to launch one on land and three rockets from the sea. The launch is safe, reliable, and cost-effective”, said Li Tongyu, commander of the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), as quoted by Space, Thursday, January 28.

This planned launch from the sea will benefit China. The reason is that they will easily choose the launch path and avoid flying over land that belongs to the territory of other countries.

Not only that, but they were also able to ensure that part of the rocket fell into the ocean, and not on land as it once did. The launch will also make it easier for them because it is located close to the equator. So they don't need a lot of fuel.

The plan is for this launch to be controlled remotely so that personnel avoids certain risks caused by the launch. Currently, CALT is developing a new version of the rocket which is predicted to be a more powerful Long March 11A rocket.

Launching NTI, CALT is China's largest organization that focuses on the development and research of launch vehicles, including ballistic missiles, submarines and rockets. Recently, the organization has also started developing rockets for communications satellites and spacecraft.

CALT is an organization that was founded to be the successor to the Beijing Wanyuan Industry company (BYIC). At that time, CALT and BYIC developed ballistic missiles.
