Wow! Elon Musk Holds Meeting At 1 AM

JAKARTA - SpaceX boss, Elon Musk is known to be quite eccentric, he has an unusual style of leading a company. Musk was even caught holding a SpaceX staff meeting at 1 in the morning.

The invitation for rapati took place on February 23, 2020. Musk held a meeting with his staff at the SpaceX factory located on Boca Chica Beach, Texas, USA.

The main discussion at the meeting was the question of why the factory could not operate 24 hours in 7 days to build the Starship rocket system that will eventually carry crew and cargo to Mars.

Launching CNBC International, at that time the engineering team stated that they needed new personnel to work with the shift system. After that, SpaceX immediately hired 252 new employees.

The incident illustrates the workings that Musk commanded. His way of leading is different from most other company leaders.

Gwynne Shotwell, who is president of SpaceX, said that she is happy to work for Elon Musk. However, he also admits that working with Musk requires high concentration.

"There's no doubt that Musk is very aggressive on his timetable, but frankly, it is pushing us to do things better and faster," Shotwell said in an interview with the 2018 edition of TED.

Shotwell also said that working with an aggressive system by applying pressure could produce the best solution.

"I think all the time and all the money in the world doesn't come up with the best solutions, so putting pressure on the team to move fast is very important."

Shotwell joined the rocket company SpaceX in 2002. He knows how to handle the pressure from his boss.

Shotwell explains that he must learn to listen and think first before accepting or rejecting Musk's orders. The reason is that Musk's ideas are bold and quite risky.

A similar opinion was expressed by Max Hodak, who is the CEO of Neuralink, another company that Musk still owns. Neuralink focuses on developing chips to connect the human brain with computer devices.

"Elon has tremendous optimism, that he will break through imagined boundaries and show you that actually a lot more is possible than you currently think," said Hodak in 2019 at the California Academy of Sciences.

Musk also doesn't place any importance on a particular college degree for people who want to work at SpaceX or Tesla. He revealed that he did not care if the prospective employees were only high school graduates.
