JAKARTA - Artificial intelligence allows anyone to become a computer programmer by simply talking to computers. This was said by Nvidia Corp CEO Jensen Huang, on Monday, May 29, welcoming the end of the era of "digital champions".

Nvidia has become the world's highest-value registered semiconductor company as one of the main suppliers of chips and computing systems for artificial intelligence.

Last week, the company estimated second-quarter revenues to be more than 50% above Wall Street forecasts and said it was increasing supplies to meet soaring demand for their artificial intelligence chips, which are used to power ChatGPT and many similar services.

Speaking to thousands of people at the Computex forum in Taipei, Huang, who was born in southern Taiwan before his family migrated to the United States when he was a child, said artificial intelligence was leading the computing revolution.

"There is no doubt that we are in a new era of computing," he said in a speech quoted by Reuters. In this speech Huang, sometimes using words in Mandarin or Taiwanese that make the audience happy.

"Every era of computing gives us the ability to do things that were previously impossible, and artificial intelligence must meet the requirements," Huang added.

"The programming approach is very low. We have closed the digital ravine. Everyone can now be a programmer - you just need to say something to the computer," Huang said.

"The speed of progress, because it is so easy to use, is the reason why growth is so fast. It will touch almost every industry," he added.

The Nvidia chip has helped companies like Microsoft Corp add human-like conversation features to search engines like Bing.

Huang points out what artificial intelligence can do, including creating a short pop song-writing program praising Nvidia with just a few words of instruction.

He also announced several new apps, including partnerships with the world's largest advertising group, WPP, for AI-generative content that can be used in digital advertising.

Nvidia has had difficulty meeting its demand for its artificial intelligence chip, with Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk, reportedly building an artificial intelligence startup last week telling an interviewer that Nvidia's graphics processing unit (GPU) was "much more difficult to obtain than drugs".
