Lionsgate Play Will Add Film Streming Service Options In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The choice of Indonesian citizens to watch and stream official films in Indonesia is confirmed. With the presence of Lionsgate Play which is ready to compete with Netflix and Disney + Hotstar in Indonesia.

The website of The Hollywood Reporter reported that Starz as the owner of the premium US cable and satellite television network used by the Lions Gate Entertainment. Reportedly it will expand the reach of its services to the Indonesian market.

In order to smoothen the expansion in the country, Starz has recruited two executives who used to oversee Hooq. Both are Guntur Siboro who was appointed as General Manager and Gene Tamesis as VP of Business Development and Partnerships, they will coordinate directly with Rohit Jain as MD of emerging markets and South Asia Lionsgate.

"Indonesia is one of the fastest growing economies with a very young and globally connected population, and has experienced massive digital economic growth thanks to the surge of high-speed internet," said Jain, Thursday, January 21.

Lionsgate Play itself is a streaming service from the collaboration of Lionsgate India and Starz. Currently this service is only available in India.

Like Netflix and Disney +, Lionsgate Play offers consumers a collection of Hollywood content that includes blockbusters and hit series. This service also develops and produces original content. In Indonesia, all content will be available with Indonesian subtitles.

"We hope to expand Lionsgate's footprint in Southeast Asia and we are confident that our unique and exclusive content will generate a tremendous response from Indonesian audiences," said Guntur Siboro, GM of Lionsgate Play Indonesia.
