JAKARTA - Pinterest announced that it will shift their focus to video content by launching the video-focused Idea Pins. Furthermore, the company said it would combine their tools for all Pin formats into one creation channel.

This means that both Pin videos and static images, along with other editing features such as stickers and overlay text, will be available in one updated experience. In addition to these changes, Pinterest will also launch a number of new editing features, measuring tools, security features, and other tools to increase user engagement.

To create videos or images of Pin in the future, users only need to select the "Make Pin" option. The company notes that all content creators will be able to add features such as music, overlay text, and stickers to their Pins.

Pinterest says this change will make it easier for content creators to edit, publish and measure their content, while advertisers can still create Idea Ads, Video Ads, Collection Ads, and Charusel Ads as before.

As a result of this change, Pinterest users will now be able to access features that were previously only available with Idea Pins or users with business accounts, including links, post-published editing, and flexible aspect ratios.

All Pins will include the ability to connect anywhere, which Pinterest says will allow users to monetize their content and connect their audience more.

"We are excited to open another monetization channel via links in all Pins," the company wrote in a post on the blog, quoted by techcrunch.

"Users will be able to add links to all images, videos, and even Pinterest TV live broadcasts, helping to increase traffic and make connections with brands. Paid partnership tools and product tagging using affiliate links (for the US and UK) are now available to everyone as additional channels to make money on Pinterest."

All Pin videos will also have improved metrics, including display and viewing time. Users will be able to create Pins using flexible aspect ratios and edit Pin components after issuance including titles, details, and links.

This makes Pinterest more parallel to competing platforms like Instagram, where certain content can be edited post-published, allowing content creators to repair or customize text for better performance, for example.

As part of this change, users no longer need to tap on multimedia creations with static images and videos. Now, this type of content will be automatically played one by one.

Pinterest also announced that all users can now start accessing a number of community interaction features. Users can now add keywords they don't want to see in comments.

Users can create filters under social permission to automatically hide all comments containing certain keywords. In addition, users will also be able to respond to content on the platform by creating and uploading photos. In addition, reactions such as heart emojis and sickles will be extended to all Pins.

A new Pin scheduling API will also be available to those using content marketing platforms and creative tools, allowing users to schedule Pin through the platform.

When Pinterest first introduced Idea Pins in 2021, it seems the company is looking to move from being an online image board to more than a content creator platform. With this change, Pinterest tries to simplify the content creation process under a unified format.

"By creating a simpler and faster way for content creators to take advantage of Pinterest's power, we make it easier than ever for our creators to reach the audience involved, make money, build brands, and express what makes them unique and special both on and off platforms," Pinterest Chief Content Officer Malik Ducard said in a statement on the change.
