JAKARTA - Apple will soon launch a mixed reality headset that can replace the iPhone in less than two months, according to internal sources.

This headset called "Reality Pro" will display notifications, messages, directions, and others from your iPhone right in front of your eyes.

After nearly eight years of development, the headset will be announced at Apple's annual developer conference in June, according to Mark Gurman, a trusted source in the world of technology.

The Reality Pro is scheduled to launch on June 5, the first day of the annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) event, which Gurman says will be "one of the most important days in history."

"Thisheaset will be a risky launch, but potentially a monumental moment for Apple," Gurman said in his Power On newspaper, also quoted by the Daily Mail.

"It will mark mixed reality as Apple's next main product category, providing an overview of the future where people interact with the world through headsets, not touchscreens that can be put into pockets," Gurman added.

"Many executives at the company believe that this device will start at a slow pace, but ultimately have the opportunity to replace the iPhone," he said.

Apple has confirmed a date for WWDC but did not mention a headset in its official announcement.

However, Gurman believes that the headset will be revealed on June 5 - in less than six weeks - and released to the store in September, around the same time the company's latest iPhone launches.

This year's Apple promotional image for WWDC features curved lines, which look "similar to the curved shape of Apple's upward face-on headset," he added.

Apple is also developing a pair of sleek mixed reality glasses that Apple Glass may call, which is coming at an early time.

How Much Does It Cost?

"This HEADset will start at a price of around 3,000 US dollars (Rp44.8 million)", Gurman said, which is about double that of some of the most expensive smartphones on the market now.

Maybe the next version of the device will be more affordable if the company wants to market it to a wider group of consumers.

Just like the iPhone and Apple Watch, this headset will be followed by an updated iteration in the following few years.

What Is The Function?

Headset ini akan menampilkan gambar digital pada lingkungan real - teknologi yang dikenal sebagai augmented reality (AR).

But it will also be able to do virtual reality (VR), meaning it will project a fully virtual element without a real-life background.

AR adds images generated by computers over existing realities - Pokémon Go is a well-known example - while VR is fully virtual, and mixed reality (MR) combines both.
