JAKARTA - Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang has just praised ChatGPT's ability. He called the chatbot made by OpenAI the "iPhone moment" for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the biggest thing ever happened to the computing industry.
During the Dean's Speaker's event at Berkeley Haas University, USA, Huang was asked by a student about ChatGPT, he stated that in no time, the tools developed by OpenAI had attracted a lot of interest and applications.
Huang insists, it's just the beginning of things that are much bigger. He even referred to ChatGPT as AI's "iPhone moment" and said ChatGPT has basically democrated computing.
According to Huang, ChatGPT is the biggest thing ever to happen to AI and the computing industry, "When was the last time we saw a technology that was so versatile that it can solve problems and often surprise people in many ways? It can write poetry of course, it can fill out spreadsheets, can write SQL queries and do SQL queries, can write python codes, can write Verilogs and so you know you can't do it today but from of course, it will be able to do it one day," Huang said.
"So the fact that you have this tool that can do all these different things really shocked a lot of people around the world. Now for a lot of people who have worked on this, we have been waiting for this moment. This is a moment of iPhone artificial intelligence. This is a time when all the ideas in mobile computing and all that, are united in a product that everyone likes, I see," he added.
Huang explained that he can now use ChatGPT as API and connect it to spreadsheets, PowerPoint, drawing programs, AI Photos programs and more.
"So we now know that this will have a huge impact on technology. And now the question is, how quickly did that technology spread? I think in the last 60 days, this tells us something that the level of technology diffusion can be very high. For example, since ChatGPT came out maybe about 500 startups have occurred, and not just that, within about 2 weeks they can make a very fun and useful application, "explained Huang
Speaking of the level of ChatGPT diffusion, as quoted from TechSpot, Tuesday, February 14, Huang said, "This is no different from when a browser was created and someone created a JavaScript overnight and you get a pretty surprising website. Or when the iPhone comes out and someone writes something and takes a few weekends and they have software they can download from the app store," Huang said.
In the last few months, the virtual universe has been shocked by the emergence of ChatGPT, which is able to beat any AI capabilities, including those owned by Google.
This AI tool is known to be able to start conversations such as between humans with chatbots, as well as help users create tasks such as writing emails, essays, code and even poetry.
No doubt, ChatGPT has its own charm for Huang, who Nvidia is at the forefront of AI technology and offers a powerful suite of hardware and software in the AI segment. There is a reason why they are known as AI market leaders in the industry.
The popularity of ChatGPT is also a challenge for tech giants, who are also competing with similar technologies. Such as Google, Microsoft, Opera and even Chinese-based companies such as Alibaba Group and Baidu, all integrating ChatGPT or similar services into their products, such as having entered a new era of artificial intelligence.
However, there are still concerns about a potential generative AI hazard, including providing users with misinformation, and letting students cheat on the exam.
